SHORT FILM COMPETITION
Description: The Short Film Competition is an integral part of the LDS Film Festival. Films that play in the competition programs find a wide audience. Selected filmmakers have an opportunity to showcase their talent to an increasing number of industry professionals. In the past, filmmakers like Jared Hess ("Napoleon Dynamite"), Ryan Little ("Saints and Soldiers"), Andrew Black ("Pride & Prejudice"), Tim Skousen ("The Sasquatch Gang") and many others have had their short films in the competition.
Awards: The following awards have been generously donated by R. Don Oscarson, a strong supporter of young LDS artists: 1st place..............................$1,000.00 2nd place ............................$300.00 3rd place .............................$100.00 Certificates for Honorable Mention and Audience Choice will also be awarded.
Length: 20 minutes and under
Criteria: The LDS Film Festival is looking for entries demonstrating intelligence, spirituality, originality, integrity, and technical excellence in their approach to the subject matter and motto of the festival. Narrative, documentary, animation and experimental films are welcome. No foul language, sexual content or graphic violence will be permitted. Films and videos must have been completed within the last three years to be eligible. All submissions must be in English or subtitled in English.
Subject Matter: Films do not have to be LDS or gospel themed. We are looking for honest stories that are personal, real and true. You have all the freedom you need to express something important, unique, or personal. Please review the motto of the festival for more information regarding the subject matter.

Entry Fees: Early: $25 Regular: $30 Extended: $35
Judging: Entries will be judged based on artistic and technical proficiency, content and adherence to all contest rules. Votes are determined on a grade point average. Judges' decisions are final.
Screenings: The times and schedules for screenings of all selected films will be announced on this website no later than Thursday, December 31, 2009.
